What can I say? It's past 25 hours already but my head is still spinning as of this writing.
I'm not exaggerating. I just too much, really.
True to its slogan, it's the most sumptuous, luxurious food and wine tasting event this year.
The WINE TASTING
It was a history---and I'm arrogantly proud to say, "I was there!" :)
I'm not a wine writer and a connoisseur, so pardon my poor vocab about wine and winery.
The historical event started at 11:00 in the morning and ended at 8:00 in the evening. With hundred of bottles of wines to be tasted, no one, for sure, left without a heavy head or dead brain cells.
We went there at 5:00 p.m.
As eight of my friends and I snaked through the crowded, narrow carpeted halls and bumped into strangers, conversations we heared, were, of course, about wine and other related stuff.
It was hard for us to find a glass wine since there was no direction at all where to get one. And when we finally found one, we started our wine tasting adventure.
We skipped the beer section, obviously.
My first wine was an Australian wine. I didn't like it. It tasted like sweet water. Hahahaha... Whatever.
So, I moved to the next table with lots of French wines to choose from. I told the bartender (or salesperson?) to give me his best recommendation, and he poured me...ah.... what's the name....? Grrrr.... I can't remember. But, anyway, I like it so I moved on to the next wine company and on and on and on...
Thirty minutes later, the beverage began to have an effect on
me. I started to walk like a drag queen but I felt like I had to drink more.
I remember asking a guy to pour me a white wine and a red one at once to his amazement --- and he refused, of course. But, I was persistent and I told him that this is a wine tasting event so I'm "tasting" what it's like to have both mixed together.
Hell, it was digusting! Hahahahaha.....
And oh, I met and had a photo op with Jeremy Oliver, one of Australia's leading and most influential wine critics and its Wine Writer of the Year for 2005!
I guess, I had too much Chilean wine yesterday. I didn't know that Chile is known for wines until last night. I had a French couchsurfer before who brought me a Chilean wine which he bought from Paris and I kinda liked it.
THE BUFFET DINNER
Hilton's restaurant manager, Charlie, called at 6:30 pm and told me that our table for buffet dinner was ready. With my incredible talent to organize half-drunk couchsurfers slash "connoisseurs", I texted everyone to be near the stairs in 20 minutes.
It never took me a long time to wait for them---which means that they're all hungry drunkards. So, I led them to the second floor and we were met by Charlie who stood by the door---waiting for us. Charlie led us to a room where ten seats were delicately-arranged. Wow! We were the only VIPs! While the rest of the crowd were in the main restaurant, we enjoyed our own exclusive place with pride and loud laughters. Hahahahahahahaha... Did you hear that? :))
The food? It wasn't that great but it was sumptuous, yes. There were not many choices. I just hated the fact that M&Ms were only there---for public display. I tried to charm the guy behind the counter to give some but it didn't work. However, my girl friend had some. Damn that guy! He's a sexist! And fugly! Hahahaha!!!
ZETA BAR
When everybody was full and heavy, we all agreed to check out the hotel's bar, ZETA. Well, all of them were actually more intrigued of ZETA's bathroom than the bar itself.

ZETA's bathroom won as the best bathroom in Beijing in a survey conducted by a magazine a year or two ago.?
And what's the best part of the party last night? It's the FREE cocktails for every hedonist!
Yes, it's FREEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
The bar also auctioned some not-hot girls and two cute men.
I mean it, literally.
They auctioned them to the highest bidder, of course, for a date and they gave the pair a voucher for two dinner.
I might be gay but I am not biased to women. I know who's hot and not. The Chinese girls they auctioned were not really in a category to be called good-looking. No wonder, the highest price they could get for the girls was, like, 800 RMB? Not sure. Cheap.
But, then, real beauty is inside, right? ;)
The boys were more expensive though but the price didn't reach a thousand RMB.
Simon, the first guy auctioned was delicious for one night but my favorite is Jonathan White, The Beijinger's Editor-in-Chief. I raised my hand for RMB300 (because that's the only cash I had at that moment). I wasn't sure if they would accept credit card. I could have stopped the bidding by saying a thousand right away. Really.
But, before you raise and arch your eyebrows, the money for the auction was donated to a charity.
So, whether the boys and girls were cheap or not, it doesn't matter. They did it for charity! ;)
AFTER ZETA
Six of us went to The Boat Bar. But, that's another story.
Another blog entry.
